The Agoraphobia Alligator is a being that wishes to protect me from the perils and unpredictability of the outside world. His intent is pure and loving, but the actions he takes are aggressive, destructive, and limiting. He believes he is keeping me safe by keeping me trapped and restricted. The colors and patterns of the large house that he resides within are as unpredictable and chaotic as he perceives the world outside my door to be. Because the Agoraphobia Alligator once kept me from being seen and understood, I make sure that he is always both seen and understood by building him a door that remains open to welcome each viewer into his home.
